ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - According to the Pakrac registry office,
897 citizenship certificates were issued today to Pakrac and Lipik
residents, out of 1,514 applications filed to date.
A UNHCR convoy set out for Bosnia this afternoon, carrying 234
Serbs who decided to leave Croatia, Pakrac-based Administration
Ministry officials said.
UN civil police had advised people against leaving today
because the convoy could go only as far as the Croatian border,
since Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic had banned the UN from
the territory under his control after NATO air strikes.
But the convoy set out despite their warnings.
According to the headmaster of the Pakrac primary school, the
number of pupils had doubled since the lessons began a few days
ago.
About 2,000 Serbs have left western Slavonia so far.
