FIGHTING FLARES UP IN SARAJEVO AND CAUSES NEW CASUALTIES

SARAJEVO, May 24 (Hina) - Serb forces fired more than 10 mortar rounds at the defence position in southern parts of Sarajevo this afternoon. The small arms fire followed the shelling. Bosnian Army positions on slopes of Mt. Trebevic were exposed to Serb assaults shortly after 05:00 pm today. The Serb shelling of Sarajevo killed four citizens and wounded 23 on Wednesday, according to figures from the Bosnian health ministry. There were two children among the wounded. Serbs launched phosphor-filled shells at the suburb of Kosevo this afternoon, UN spokesman Gary Coward said. Such shells are forbidden by Geneva conventions. Serbs fired a rocket at the building of Bosnian Radio and Television in the city. At least one person was killed and several were injured in the explosion. UN military observers could not find out what type of the shell had hit the building. A team of UN firefighters was also attacked today in Sarajevo. Their commander John Jordan, said that while they were trying to extinguish fire on a building in the Sarajevo downtown, three mortar rounds landed there, and presently the firefighters came under sniper fire.
