SARAJEVO, May 18 (Hina) - Bosnian army Fifth Corps units were
fortifying their positions south-east of Bihac this morning, and
mopping-up the remaining Serb strongholds in the area, UN
Protection Force Sarajevo command said today.
According to the map shown today in UNPROFOR H.Q. Bosnian army
now controls several dozen square kilometers of previously Serb-
held land.
After capturing the little town of Ripac, about 10 km south-
east of Bihac, Bosnian army advanced two to three kilometers
further. Within the newly gained ground there were two Serb-
controlled pockets in the villages of Lohovo and Volarica. Serb
forces were still offering some resistance, though completely
surrounded.
In retaliation Serbs had fired at least twelve 122mm mortar
shells, killing three civilians, UN said, adding that 11 shells had
come from Bosnian Serb positions and one from Serb-controlled part
of Croatia.
