SARAJEVO, May 3 (Hina) - New clashes between Bosnian army and
Bosnian Serb forces started yesterday on Mt. Majevica northeast
Bosnia, a UN spokesman in Sarajevo said.
A total of 660 explosions was registered around strategic TV
relay Stolice on the mountain peak in the past 24 hours. UN
observers said in an unofficial report that Bosnian army Second
corps had launched a new offensive, apparently aimed to capture the
relay. In retaliation Serbs shelled Tuzla. UN troops recorded 45
explosions in the wider town area.
Another 28 explosions were counted at the Tuzla airport area,
but no further information was available.
UN HQ Sarajevo also confirmed that Bosnian and Croatian Serbs
had shelled UN-designated "safe area" Bihac. At least seven
grenades were registered landing in downtown Bihac, five of them
striking on the local hospital or its surroundings. Croatian rebel
Serbs were marked as responsible for the shelling.
Another 92 detonations were registered in Bihac last night.
