ZAGREB, May 3 (Hina) - Croatian Railways manager Bartol Ivanusa
announced today that a train service across western Slavonia could
be restored on Friday.
"Our crews are at the spot, repairing the rails," he said.
"We may realistically expect the Zagreb-Tovarnik railway to be
in full repair tomorrow."
Before the traffic is fully normalised, the area would be
served only by diesel freight trains, because power lines needed
lengthy repairs. The first trains were to travel only by day.
Some of the repairs had already been carried out in the past
few months under the Dec 2 Economic Agreement, according to
Ivanusa.
"We only need to continue what has already been started," he
said.
The Croatian Railways was preparing for rehabilitating other
occupied railway lines, including the Zagreb-Knin-Split and the
Vinkovci-Mirkovci line.
