WASHINGTON, April 9 (Hina) - Croatian Health Minister Andrija
Hebrang, and the Croatian Health Insurance Institute's head,
Stjepan Turek, visited the United States to attend the conference
on economical administration of the public health at the invitation
of a world organization called "Project of Hope" and the Eli Lilly
pharmaceutical firm.
During the four-day conference in Indianapolis and Washington
US and British experts informed representatives of 15 European,
Asian and African countries of world experiences in calculations of
costs of diseases and economical treatment and services of
patients.
In 1991 Croatian made first contacts with "Project of Hope", a
humanitarian agency founded 30 years ago with aims to improve
health standards through education and to offer material assistance
to less developed countries.
Croatian Health Minister Hebrang described the relations with
this agency as very good.
"Project of Hope" has sent medicines donations to Croatia,
worth of about US $ 15 million, since 1991, and the agency has
based one of its six European offices in Zagreb.
At the end of the conference Minister Hebrang and Mr Turek
were informed of the work of the FDA, US Administration institution
for control of food and medicines.
