ZAGREB ARCHBISHOP CALLS FOR STATE ARCHIVES TO BE OPENED TO PUBLIC

ZAGREB, April 6 (Hina) - The Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Franjo Kuharic, today called on Croatian authorities to open state archives to the public to shed more light on the contemporary history of the Croatian people and remove the effects of fifty years of propaganda aimed against Croats. At the presentation of a book of documents by the Bishops' Office from Mostar, "For a Just Peace", Kuharic said that the Church could not renounce the above demand until documents showing arguments with which the Church had been defending itself in the last half-century, were analyzed.
