OSIJEK, April 6 (Hina) - British Ambassador to Croatia, Gavin
Wallace Hewit, is today visiting Osijek.
Deputy Prefect of Osijek county, Mirko Barisin, received the
British Ambassador and informed him of the consequences of the
Serbian aggression in this region.
Barisin stressed problems with the accommodation of displaced
persons, the difficulties of the region's economy, which had
suffered a loss of some 3.5 billion DM, and traffic isolation.
Ambassador Hewit emphasized the importance of a "mutual
recognition of all states on the territory of the former Yugoslavia
within their internationally recognized borders", and added that in
that respect the international community was continually exerting
pressure on the Serbian President Milosevic.
