OSIJEK, April 5 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic
today held talks with Osijek County authorities.
Regarding Serb-occupied areas in eastern Croatia, Granic
emphasized that any speculation about Baranja and parts of Slavonia
was out of the question since these areas, bordering on Serbia,
were of great strategic importance.
Osijek County prefect Branimir Glavas asked Granic that
negotiations between the Croatian government and local Serb
authorities, conducted with international mediation, should include
the opening of communications, primarily the Drava-Danube waterway
and the Osijek-Beli Manastir-Mohacs railway line.
Glavas said that the process of the peaceful reintegration of
occupied territories should begin in eastern Croatia.
Representatives of the Commission for Imprisoned and Missing
Persons demanded that exhumations in occupied areas should not be
allowed without Croatian officials being present.
