CROATIAN SERBS STILL DETAIN A BRITISH HUMANITARIAN WORKER

ZAGREB, April 3 (Hina) - Croatian Serbs are still detaining a British humanitarian agency's worker, Mirko Buzuk, while UN officials are negotiating his release, a spokesman for UN headquarters in Zagreb, Christopher Gunnes, said on Monday. The British citizen Mirko Buzuk of Croatian origins, was detained by Serbs on March 29, while travelling to Knin, and since then his whereabouts have been unknown. Mr Buzuk and a German, Ms Christel Dahlenburg, should have conducted talks in Knin with local Serb authorities on clearance for the free passage of a humanitarian convoy called "Women of the World for Women in Bosnia" bound for Bihac, western Bosnia. Gunnes said UN officials were constantly in contact with the Knin authorities and the British Embassy in Zagreb. Gunnes could not say anything about the whereabouts of Buzuk, and it has remained unclear why Serbs kidnapped him. The negotiations on Buzuk's release have been conducted for six days. According to diplomatic circles in Zagreb, there are some indications that Croatian Serbs may set him free soon. (hina) jn mms 031753 MET apr 95
