$ AN MUNICIPALITIES
MOSTAR, March 12 (Hina) - Moslem police based in Tesanj yesterday
detained a Croatian police officer from the neighbouring
municipality of Usora (northern Bosnia), local Croat officials said
today.
The arrest prompted the Usora-based HVO (Croatian Defence
Council) command and the local HDZ branch (Croatian Democratic
Union) to inform the governments of the United States, Germany,
Austria and Turky of this incident. The letter was carried by
Bosnian Croat radio.
The letter also complained that the Moslem authorities in
Tesanj had obstructed the arrival of a football team from Zepce,
which was to play the Usora team. The Moslem authorities were also
obstructing the installation of a new switchboard in Usora.
"The situation in Usora is tense and may escalate into a full-
blown conflict with unforeseeable consequences," the letter warned.
US, German, Austrian and Turkish officials were urged to visit
Usora and see the situation for themselves.
