ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - The Croatian Radio and TV Council today
adopted a new editorial approach for covering the work of the
Croatian Parliament, which excludes live broadcasts of sessions.
Out of 26 Council members, 17 voted in favour, 7 opposed
the scheme and two abstained from voting.
HRT newly-appointed manager Parac said the TV would cover
the work of the Parliament through features and similar "brief,
succinct and interesting" shows.
Explaining the proposals on the new concept and a new
editorial approach Parac said it was not in question whether or not
to cover the work of the Croatian Parliament but the essential
question was how to cover its work.
He said the Parliament's work would be still intensively
covered but in the different way.
No all-day-long live broadcasting of parliamentary sessions
should be done, but the TV would make more separate broadcasts in
the informative and reporting mode, which would inform the audience
of activities of the Croatian Parliament briefly, succinctly and
interestingly, Parac said.
Bozo Kovacevic, a parliamentary deputy of the opposition
Croatian Social-Democrat (HSLS) party and a member of the Croatian
Radio and TV Council, said the Croatian TV denied on principle the
appearance of the opposition and non-governmental and civilian
organizations in the daily broadcasts, and he described this
decision on the new editorial approach as the total blockage
imposed on the Croatian opposition.
