DECISION ON MOSTAR MUST BE MADE UNANIMOUSLY, KOSCHNIK SAYS

MOSTAR, March 7 (Hina) - The decision on the organization of Mostar must be made by consensus of Croats and Bosniacs as well as in accordance with the Constitution of the Bosnian Federation. The EU Administration must not prejudge the resolution of Mostar, the EU Administrator of Mostar, Hans Koschnik today said after the first talks between the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ) and the Party of the Democratic Action (SDA) on the political future of the southern Bosnian city. The leader of the HDZ of B-H, Dario Kordic, protested over the fact that the SDA leader, Alija Izetbegovic, did not participate in the talks on the political future of Mostar. Therefore, on behalf of the HDZ of B-H its deputy head, Srecko Vucina, would be involved in such talks, Kordic said. He reiterated the Croatian side's view that Mostar could be arranged in more than one municipality. The SDA deputy head, Edhem Bicakcic, described today's talks as successful. He reiterated the Bosniac (Moslem) side's position that Mostar should be organized as an united city on the principles of the local self-rule. The talks are to resume next month.
