WASHINGTON, Feb 25 (Hina) - The United States still believes that
the Z-4 plan offered the best chance for a permanent resolution
in Croatia and that the UN peacekeepers should stay in Croatia to
avoid a flare-up of clashes, State Department spokeswoman,
Christine Shelly, said Friday.
She added that the State Department was in daily contact
with Croatian officials on Zagreb's decision to end the UNPROFOR
mandate.
Asked if the United States would help with withdrawing UN
peacekeepers from Croatia, she said the American president had
still not made a decision on this.
"We've discussed options of our cooperation with NATO in
withdrawing UNPROFOR from Croatia, in as much as that may be
necessary," Shelly said.
