CROATIAN GOVERNMENT DECISIONS ADOPTED AT FEBRUARY 9 SESSION

ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - The Croatian Government Public Relations Office today released a statement containing decisions adopted at a February 9 Government session which was chaired by President Franjo Tudjman. In accordance with a program presented by President Tudjman in his report on the state of the nation to the Croatian Parliament and the actual situation in certain areas, the Government determined its obligations as well as the obligations of ministries and other state authorities in implementing government policy. Government decisions included main tasks in implementing government policy in the economy, social welfare, armed forces, international activities, administration, judiciary and public services. The Government decided to work out programs for demographic revival and displaced persons, to ensure conditions for the establishment of a Ministry for Returnees and to set up a committee for the fight against drugs. Decisions also include laws that were to be passed or amended and territorial changes of administrative units that were to be made. The Government was set with the task of drawing up a plan for establishing a confederation between Croatia and the Moslem-Croat federation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. It was decided that a committee for marking the fifth anniversary of Croatian independence would be established and the fiftieth anniversary of the victory of the Antifascist Coalition would be celebrated. Croatia's contribution to this victory would be scientifically evaluated and research would be conducted into the number of Croatian victims in World War Two.
