KOSCHNIK , EAST AND WEST MOSTAR MAYORS AFTER THEIR MEETING

ZAGREB, Feb 14 (Hina) - Today's talks with Croatian President Franjo Tudjman were conducted on the common grounds of support to Croatian-Moslem Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the EU Mostar Administrator, Hans Koschnik, said after the meeting. Koschnik said he and two Mostar Mayors, Safet Orucevic and Mijo Brajkovic who had attended the talks, had presented the joint positions - "which had been impossible last year". They openly discussed "problems, successes and perspectives" of the present cooperation in Mostar, Koschnik said, adding that he would be later meeting with French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe in Paris. Western Mostar Mayor, Mijo Brajkovic, said that agreement had been reached that the ruling parties of Croats and Moslems in Bosnia, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) respectively, be fully involved in the implementation of the project of Mostar's reconstruction. Thus "the will of the people will prevail", Brajkovic stressed adding that "European Union does not have any right to prejudge the political settlement to the city". He added that the situation in Mostar could not be considered separately from the issue of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina. He added that the political settlement would pave the way for the easier implementation of the EU project of Mostar. Eastern Mostar Mayor, Safet Orucevic, decsribed the "implementation of the Bosnian Federation" and "the implementation of the memorandum on understanding in Mostar" as two inseparable processes. Orucevic held that today's talks were a step forward towards the final solution to the Croat-Moslem relations in Bosnia. (hina) jn sd mms 141552 MET feb 95
