HUMANITARIAN AIRLIFT RESUMES IN SARAJEVO

SARAJEVO, Feb 13 (Hina) - The Humanitarian airlift for Sarajevo was reinstated today after a two-day postponement, UNHCR spokesman Kris Janowski said. Twenty transporter planes were expected to land in Sarajevo today. Janowski said that French UNPROFOR soldiers would temporarily secure warehouses and the unloading of humanitarian aid at Sarajevo airport while UNHCR workers were unable to do this job. Local UNHCR officials were limited in moving in and around the airport three days ago after one UNHCR worker was arrested by Bosnian police. Janowski said that in the next few days in Sarajevo there would be fewer planes carrying food, at most a third of the required level. Such a situation would be in place until the issue of the arrested UNHCR worker and the kidnapped Bosnian television journalist was resolved. Janowski said that tomorrow the first aid convoy would be sent to Bihac, via the new route through Banja Luka and Bosanska Krupa.
