NEWLY-APPOINTED HEAD OF CROATIAN-ITALIAN ASSOCIATION

ROME, Jan 29 (Hina) - The Croatian-Italian Association last night elected Vera Jarlic for its new head at its extraordinary annual assembly. The former head, Mirko Sikic, had been relieved of this duty, since he was now appointed as the Croatian consul in Rome. The Association had been acting for more than a year, and it included 90 members now. Mario Caristi, a member of Italian Supreme Court of Cassation, was appointed as the Association's honorary president at yesterday's assembly. The Croatian-Italian Association had initiated several humanitarian operations so far. In the first issue of the Association's monthly "Insieme" Croats in Rome supported Croatian President Franjo Tudjman's decision to end the UNPROFOR mandate. Croatian Ambassadors to Italy and Vatican, Davorin Rudolf and Ive Livljanic respectively, attended the assembly. (hina) mms rv 291456 MET jan 95
