The session recalled the most important events and results of
HDZ politics in 1996 and established the party's political
priorities for 1997.
The session established that the HDZ would establish further
cooperation with parties with programmes similar to that of the
HDZ, as well as cooperation with non-party state-building
associations.
The Presidency decided to adopt a suggestion by the 800-member
Croatian National Democratic League to join the HDZ.
The HDZ presidency again called on all centrist parties,
especially the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) and Croatian Social
Liberal Party (HSLS), for a consistent, equal and long-term
cooperation aimed at a permanent consolidation and stability of the
independent, sovereign and democratic state of Croatia.
The Presidency also set tasks for all competent state
institutions to accelerate preparations for a complete
establishment of Croatian authority in the Croatian Danubian area.
The Presidency also reached a decision whereby Ivan Jarnjak
and Ivan Penic are to be included in the HDZ Presidency, the
statement said.
