ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - Croatia's Minister of Development and
Reconstruction, Jure Radic, on Monday received the Vice President
of the Geneva-based International Standardization Organization
(ISO) and Director of the German standardization institute DIN, Max
Helmut Reihlen.
Radic informed the guest that the Croatian State Institute for
Standards and Measures had been admitted to international systems
and that it accepted the standards of developed European countries.
Radic noted that 90 percent of Croatian regulations in this
area had been taken from DIN while the remaining 10 percent were a
result of Croatian particularities.
"We expect further cooperation with DIN and assistance to the
Croatian State Institute for Standards and Measures," Radic said.
Reihlen expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between
the Croatian institute and European and world institutions. He
noted that a government should not go too far in the creation of
standardization laws but that it should direct the development of
technology.
Reihlen stressed that the improvement of cooperation between
the Croatian institute and ISO would contribute to Croatia's bid
for full membership of the European Union.
