ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - According to a report by a Croatian television (HRT) journalist in last night's news broadcast 'Motrista', the local Serb media in Vukovar had yesterday repeatedly reported about the 'marking of the fifth
anniversary of the liberation of Vukovar', avoiding in this way the use of the word 'celebration'. Still, the Croatian journalist concludes, according to all events that took place in Vukovar yesterday, the Serbs obviously did organise a celebration.

At a ceremony organised in the Vukovar City Assembly, diplomas
were awarded to 'deserving individuals and organisations' from the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The illegal mayor of the occupied
Vukovar stated at the ceremony that Croatian authorities were
'conducting classic state terror and killing and harassing the
remaining Serbs'.
Along with numerous sports and cultural manifestations, the
Serbs also opened new offices of Vukovar television, the HRT report
said.
The report also included a statement by the spokesman for the
U.N. Transitional Administration in Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES),
Philip Arnold, who said that there had been no public meetings in
the town, except for a commemorative meeting at the town's
cemetery.
Recalling that the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica
Kostovic had sent last Sunday a letter to U.N. Transitional
Administrator Jacques Klein, expressing hope that 'no songs or
trumpets' would be heard in Vukovar, Arnold said he could confirm
that there had been no such things.
