VITEZ, Nov 4 (Hina) - The Coordination Committee of displaced
persons from Zenica on Sunday warned about the difficult status of
Zenica Croats who had remained in the area controlled by the
Bosnian army, Bosnian Croat news agency Habena said. #L#
The statement cited examples of incidents in which Croats had
been physically and verbally abused, intimidated, or their property
had been damaged.
Many Croats had received threatening letters saying, "It is
time for you to leave. What more are you waiting for," the
statement said.
"The free movement of Mujahaddin, foreign citizens and
domestic extremists, who are the main instruments of intimidation,
is tolerated by the official authority," the statement said.
Municipal authorities refused to issue residents' permits and
thus prevented the return of over 20,000 displaced persons, who
were pressured to leave their homes in Zenica, the statement said.
