ZAGREB, Sept 14 (Hina) - The Association of Croatian Homeland War
Invalids (HVIDRA) began a convention in Zagreb on Saturday in the
presence of the President of the Republic, Franjo Tudjman.
HVIDRA president Marinko Liovic said in his opening remarks
that there had been no improvement in the social status of disabled
war veterans and that the aim of a protest rally due to take place
outside the Parliament building on Sunday was to draw the attention
of the government and public to their problems.
In his address to the convention, President Tudjman stressed
that he supported the invalids' justified demands, saying that the
invalids "have given the most that can be given for the free and
independent Croatian state."
Tudjman said that "we must not allow a destabilization of the
Croatian state and a return to Balkan frameworks."
"The Croatian authorities will make every effort to resolve
the problems of disabled veterans," Tudjman emphasized.
