WASHINGTON, 6 August (Hina) - The US administration has welcomed
an agreement on the implementation of the results of the Mostar
elections made on Tuesday. Speaking in Washington, State
department Spokesman Nicholas Burns described the agreement as
"very positive."
"We consider this agreement clear. Both parties have shown
active and public commitment to the agreement and we believe it
will hold," said Burns, adding that the agreement is important
because it precedes general elections, scheduled for 14
September 1996.
"I hope that now that they have made such a decision, both
parties will support its implementation," said Burns. He
congratulated the EU for its role in the organization of
negotiations, adding that Croatian president also deserves credit
for the agreement.
