REMAINS OF 241 VICTIMS EXHUMED IN CRO BANOVINA,KORDUN AREAS

SISAK, August 2 (Hina) - 34 exhumations were performed at 151 locations and remains of 241 persons were found in the liberated areas of Banovina and Kordun in Croatia between 10 September 1995 and 31 July 1996. The remains were found in 13 mass graves and at 138 different locations, the Sisak County Police Department, about 50 km south of Zagreb, said in a statement on Friday. Six mass graves, from which remains of 52 persons were exhumed, were found in the Petrinja area near Sisak, while remains of 45 persons were found at 38 different locations. Four mass graves with remains of 15 and 58 different locations with remains of 62 persons were found in the Glina area, south of Sisak. Two mass graves with remains of ten and 27 different locations with remains of 32 persons were found in the Hrvatska Kostajnica area, while one mass grave with remains of three and 14 different locations with remains of 18 persons were found in Gvozd. Head of the Sisak County PD Ivan Pestaj said that two bodies had been exhumed on the same spot in the Dvor area, on the Croatian-Bosnian border south of Sisak, adding that police operative divisions were working on the discovery of new mass graves and single graves.
