According to Medical Trade Union chairman Abdulah Nakas, 95
percent of all doctors and nurses from nearly all Bosnian
Federation counties are striking. Medical care is provided only to
emergency cases.
"We won't stop until we achieve our goals - a 500-DM salary
and participation in the drafting of the Public Health Bill," he
said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hasan Muratovic says there is no
chance for the doctors to achieve any of these goals.
"A strike won't help improve their situation," Muratovic told
Oslobodjenje.
"They aren't any worse off than their fellow citizens - it's
true they work very much for a little money, but there are many
people without either work or pay," he pointed out.
