ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - The Zagreb daily VJESNIK on Monday runs a
text by its Editor-in-Chief Nenad Ivankovic about the letter of
intentions of the Zagreb branch of the Croatian Democratic Union
(HDZ) with an offer to opposition parties for the forming of a
great opposition, with the aim of resolving the Zagreb crisis.
"The letter of intentions conveys a view of the political
crisis in Zagreb, it offers principles by which it can be resolved
and, lastly, 'the distribution and organization of authority'.
Vjesnik found out that the HDZ suggestion aims at a creation
of a so-called great coalition, which encompasses all parties in
the City Council.
When it comes to 'distributing seats', HDZ's suggestion
considers 'every party from the (Seven Party) Alliance," Ivankovic
writes.
"The leadership of the Zagreb HDZ branch described recent
statements that 'members of the opposition can be sold for a couple
of seats' as malicious.
Talks about the distribution of functions, that is authority,
have nothing to do with buying anybody or any party.
All parties in the same position are equal, the Zagreb HDZ
leaders say", Ivankovic writes.
The only issue that the HDZ letter considers is that every
party should partake in the authority in proportion to its election
results, Ivankovic writes.
