Speaking at a press conference today, Ghidi said that the
aid the European Union had set aside for Croatia amounted to
11,7% of the total aid package of 204 million DM intended for
refugees and displaced persons in Bosnia-Herczegovina, Croatia,
Serbia, and Montenegro for the next five months.
Part of the aid consisting of food supplies would include
beef, but, Ghidi stressed, 'the beef from the United Kingdom will
not be included in the humanitarian aid'.
The aid is intended for 350,000 refugees and displaced
persons all over Croatia, but not for the region of Eastern
Slavonia, it was stressed.
Since the Croatian Danubian area was under the UNHCR and
UNTAES mandates, the ECHO did not have any direct projects for
that region so far, Ghidi said.
