SARAJEVO, 31 May (Hina) - The NATO Military Council held a session
in Sarajevo on Friday. The session, chaired by General Klaus
Neumann, discussed implementation of the Bosnia Peace Agreement and
IFOR operations. IFOR Commander Admiral Leighton Smith informed the
session about the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. #L#
'I think that we can congratulate IFOR on what has been done
so far', General Neumann told reporters at Sarajevo airport after
the session.
IFOR was currently checking reports on renewed ethnic
cleansing in Serb-controlled parts of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Neumann
said, adding it was still too early to discuss measures which could
prevent it. Neumann did not announce any possibilities of change in
IFOR's procedure with war crime suspects, recalling that IFOR
soldiers could arrest war crime suspects only as part of their
regular duties.
