ZAGREB, 9 April (Hina) - Negotiations between representatives of
the Association of Independent Croatian Workers' Unions (SSSH) and
the Government continued in Zagreb today. The negotiating teams
were led by SSSH President Davor Juric and Deputy Labour and Social
Welfare Minister Vera Babic. #L#
A joint statement, released after the talks, said that the
Government negotiating team did not accept a Union demand that the
lowest basic salary be increased to 1,100 kunas. The Government
negotiating team proposed that the discussion on this Union demand
start as of 1 July.
The Union demand on the introduction of more taxation
categories and an increase of the non-taxable part of the salary
will also be discussed as of 1 July.
The Union is also to request from the Government to implement
item 242 of the Labour Act which enables the Government to regulate
the amount of the lowest basic salary two years after the beginning
of the implementation of the Act.
The negotiating teams agreed that labour judiciary should be
established within the current legal system.
