MINISTER GRANIC RECEIVES DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF SARAJEVO CITY ASSEMBLY

ASSEMBLY $ ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic on Saturday received the deputy head of the Sarajevo City Assembly, Ante Zelic. Zelic informed Granic about events in Sarajevo which happened after the signing of the Dayton agreements, especially about the organisation of a single-nation canton without agreement with Croats as a constituent people and partner in the Croat-Muslim Federation. This one-sided act was strongly opposed by all political parties and institutions which gathered the Croat people and which gave firm and determined support to the agreements on the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, signed in Washington, Dayton and Rome, Zelic said. Speaking about the meeting of the premiers of Croatia, Bosnia- Herzegovina and the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo last Thursday, Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic said that the participants in the meeting had agreed that the highest representatives of the Bosniac and Croat peoples should meet as soon as possible and discuss all open questions so that a stalemate in the establishment of the Federation could be avoided. Stressing that the strengthening of the Federation was a strategic aim of both the Bosniacs and Croats, as well as Croatia's strategic interest, Granic said that in the talks with representatives of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Federation, Croatia advocated equality and constituency of the Croat people on the whole territory of the Federation, as well as in Sarajevo. Agreement between the two sides, which would be based on the Washington and Dayton accords was the only thing which could bring about a lasting and just solution as regards the organisation of Sarajevo as the Bosnian and Federation capital, Granic estimated. At the end of the talks, Granic expressed hope that members of the Council for Cooperation between Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina would meet soon and openly discuss all questions concerning mutual relations.
