"We will not tolerate the way Mr. Koscnik has been treated and
I want this clearly understood," Solana said after the talks.
"Mr. Koschnik has done a very good job in this town," he
added.
"He has the support of the European Union and the
international community," Solana said.
"Mutual trust in Mostar is a precondition for reconciliation
in the Bosnian Federation, which in turn is a precondition for
reconciliation in the whole region," Solana stressed, adding that
he had arrived in Mostar to help this process.
Asked how NATO would react to proven cases of extremism,
Joullwan answered that "NATO does not function as a police force in
Mostar. We will not tolerate Koschnik to be threatened and we will
closely cooperate with the Western European Union."
Asked whether Koschnik's decision on the administrative and
territorial division of Mostar would be reviewed, Ganic answered
that today's talks were held in order to re-establish the
cooperation between Koschnik and the two Mostar mayors. He added
that today's meeting did not touch upon Koschnik's decision on
Mostar.
