RAVNE/BRCKO, Jan 20 (Hina/Habena) - Several villagers visited their
houses at Ilice, near Brcko, on Saturday after being three and half
years in exile during the Serb occupation of their village.
Some villages of the Ravne-Brcko municipality have entered
into a buffer zone under the IFOR (Implementation Force) control,
since the warring factions withdrew two kilometres from the
confrontation lines in this part of northern Bosnia by January 19.
The villagers toured to Ilice on their own. After the visit
they said that most houses and commercial buildings had been
plundered and destroyed in the village. The villagers had also met
Bosnian Serb policemen there, but police had not prevented them to
visit their own homes.
Ravne-Brcko municipal authorities said that they were planning
the return of Croatian refugees to villages in the buffer zone,
according to the Herzeg-Bosnian news agency (HABENA).
