the agriculture in the area. #L#
Chief coordinator for the agricultural projects with the World
Bank Severin Kodderitzch and Dubrovnik County prefect Jure Buric
discussed the ways of crediting recovery programs of the small
farmworks in the area, which had suffered heavy losses in the 1991
war.
The World Bank had earlier signed an arrangement with Croatia
for a USD 128 million loan, out of which 19.7 million was assigned
for agriculture.
The latter amount was to be allocated into a four-year program
set in motion in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and
Forestry, assigned to purchase new farming machinery, cattle, and
quality seeds.
Particular attention would be paid to restructuring of the
small businesses and to reforestation of the coastal area,
Kodderitzch said.
After the meeting the officials visited several families in
the Konavle area, south of Dubrovnik, which had already been
provided with the equipment and cattle through the arrangement.
