ZAGREB, Jan 11 (Hina) - The functioning of the Moslem-Croat
federation and the resolution of the situation in Mostar are of
vital importance for the implementation of the peace agreement in
Bosnia-Herzegovina, NATO Secretary General Javier Solana said in
Zagreb on Thursday after meeting Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman.
We are concerned about the situation in Mostar and we would
like it resolved as soon as possible, Solana said, adding that he
obtained assurances from Tudjman that the Croatian side would
make every effort to solve the situation in Mostar as soon as
possible.
Solana said that the talks also focused on the deployment of
IFOR troops and the Eastern Slavonia issue.
The Security Council should pass a resolution on Eastern
Slavonia in the coming days, he said, adding that he hoped that
the issue would be solved soon.
Solana was travelling to Sarajevo on Friday morning where he
would meet Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic and Federation
President Kresimir Zubak.
