SARAJEVO, Dec 25 (Hina) - All Catholic churches in Sarajevo held
midnight masses last night to celebrate Christmas.
Just like in the days of war, mass in the Cathedral of the Heart of
Jesus was led by the Archbishop of Sarajevo, Cardinal Vinko
Puljic.
Stressing that Catholics wanted to share Christmas as a holiday of
peace and love with other people of good will, Puljic commented on a
leaflet which appeared on Christmas Eve on Sarajevo streets calling
on people not to extend their best wishes for Christmas.
"Those are not people who love their country. Those are not people
who love all citizens of this country," Puljic said in reference to
the authors of the leaflet.
"I hope that that is not the official teaching of one religious
community and I believe that they will distance themselves from
such views.
"That is why we are extending the hand of brotherly unity, and on
this holy night I appeal to all people of good will that we unite our
hearts and stop the evil and hatred," Puljic told the packed
cathedral.
He called for building a joint future in peace, happiness and
freedom.
