THE HAGUE, Dec 19 (Hina) - Three Bosnian Croat war crimes suspects
were released from the custody of the International Criminal
Tribunal in The Hague on Friday evening.
"I feel both satisfied and frustrated," Pero Skopljak said upon
release from Scheveningen prison at around 19.40 hours. "First I
want to bring my family together, and then I will come to grips with
life as if nothing happened," he said, adding that it was the third
time he had been imprisoned.
Marinko Katava said: "This is the first time, and I hope the last, I
have been in prison. Now I will simply continue living my life."
"This is a modern prison. People's souls break in all prisons. I
think that here it is done in a modern way," Ivan Santic said upon
his release. "I'm confident that many of them (war crimes suspects)
will return like us - with their heads held high."
The three men were acquitted due to lack of evidence. They will
spend the night in The Hague and on Saturday will travel to Zagreb on
a regular Croatia Airlines flight from Amsterdam.
