ZAGREB, Dec 17 (Hina) - Italian President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro on
Wednesday laid wreaths at the Altar of the Homeland in the
Medvedgrad fortress above Zagreb.
Scalfaro and his delegation were accompanied by Croatian Foreign
Minister Mate Granic and Croatia's Ambassador to Italy Davorin
Rudolf.
After the wreath-laying, Scalfaro signed the book of impressions in
Medvedgrad.
The Italian President then visited the Mirogoj cemetery in Zagreb
and laid a wreath in the part where Italian soldiers killed in World
War One and Italian partisans killed in World War Two are buried.
Before his address to the Croatian state parliament, Scalfaro and
his delegation visited the papal nunciature in Zagreb.
On this occasion, apostolic nuncio Giulio Einaudi and Zagreb
archbishop Josip Bozanic served a mass.
