UNHCR ACCUSES BOSNIAN PEOPLES' LEADERS OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION

( Editorial: --> 7118 ) MOSTAR, Dec 9 (Hina) - UNHCR spokeswoman Ariane Quentier on Tuesday accused Bosnian Croat, Muslim and Serb political leaders of violation of human rights. The rights of minorities to return, to accommodation, a home and ownership are violated too often in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Quentier told reporters in Mostar on the occasion of December 10, International Human Rights Protection day. She announced a meeting in Banja Luka for December 11. Sponsored by the UNHCR and the office of the international High Representative for B-H, it should discuss the process of return across the inter- entity separation line. Representatives of the Bosnian Serb republic and the Central Bosnia Canton would attend. Quentier also said the UNHCR intended to open its office in Travnik, central Bosnia. According to Mladen Barbaric, deputy assistant to the federal ombudsman for the Mostar area, the ombudsman's office in Mostar had received 825 reports on violations of human rights to date. They were currently being cleared. The ombudsman's office in nearby Capljina would soon begin working, he said. (hina) ha jn 092042 MET dec 97
