ZAGREB, 5 Dec (Hina) - Vlado Gotovac, former president of the
Croatian Social-Liberal Party (HSLS) announced the establishment
of a new liberal party on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference in Zagreb, Gotovac said the
committee for the establishment of the new party would meet on 21
December, and the first convention of the party would be held on 24
January next year.
The new party would have at least 50% of HSLS members (from 5,000 to
6,000), at least three representatives in each house of the
Croatian Parliament and some 300 councilors in the units of local
self-government.
The new party would return to the true topics of liberalism.
"That means that our party will not only react but also initiate
things" Gotovac said.
"We want to be the initiator of changes," he added.
