PREGRADA/DVORAC BEZANEC, 23 Oct (Hina) - The Croatian and Slovene
Foreign Ministers Mate Granic and Boris Frlec respectively met for
a working meeting to discuss the question of borders, on Thursday in
Bezanec castle, some 30 km north-west of Zagreb. #L#
After the meeting, which was also attended by the co-chairmen of a
mixed diplomatic commission for borders, Hrvoje Kacic and Iztok
Simoniti, a joint statement was issued.
According to the statement, the two ministers considered the
overall situation in mutual relations and cooperation and
supported the past work and results of the mixed diplomatic
commission for borders. They established that the two sides had
achieved considerable results in bringing their views closer,
especially concerning the mainland border.
As regards the sea border, both sides, following the international
law, will seek such a solution which will take into consideration
the rights of both sides and enable the exercise of rights both
states enjoyed before they became independent on 25 June 1991.
The two sides agreed to intensify the activities of the joint mixed
commission, the statement said.
Croatia's and Slovenia's Economy Ministers Nenad Porges and
Marijan Senjur respectively initialled a free trade agreement in
Slovenia on Thursday. The two officials said they hoped that trade
between the two countries would increase, as it was on the
descending line during 1997.
