ZAGREB, Oct 12 (Hina) - The fifth world triennial exhibition of fine
ceramics opened in Zagreb on Sunday.
This triennial show gathered the record number of exhibitors -
455 participants from 68 countries.
The exhibition was staged at the Croatian visual artists'
centre by the Croatian artists' association (ULUPUH) supported by
the museum centre and the Croatian society of visual artists.
At the opening ceremony, Croatian President Franjo Tudjman's
special envoy, Culture Minister, Bozo Biskupic reminded the gathered
of successes and rich heritage of Croatian ceramists.
He described the triennial exhibition as the most important
cultural event this autumn in the country.
The minister added that this exhibition had also promoted
Croatia to the world since the beginning of this triennial show in
1984.
The director of the fifth triennial exhibition of ceramics,
Hanibal Salvaro, and the organising committee's president, Ivancica
Cvitic-Znidarcic, addressed many Zagreb citizens who gathered at the
opening ceremony.
They thanked many sponsors and donators including President
Tudjman, the culture ministry, Zagreb city authorities and
authorities of some other Croatian towns as well as of German city
of Meinz, the Geneva-based international academy of ceramics and
others.
