Tudjman acquainted Ahtisari with problems that exist in the
implementation of the peace process, stressing that it was crucial
to fully implement the Dayton and Washington agreements for a
lasting solution for Bosnia.
Ahtisari said that he kept in view the invitation to visit
Croatia, adding that he was planning to visit the region of the
former Yugoslavia sometime soon.
President Tudjman is in Strasbourg for a two-day summit of
Council of Europe member countries.
Tudjman also held talks with the Council of Europe Secretary-
General, Daniel Tarschys on Saturday.
The two estimated that as the youngest member of the Council
of Europe, Croatia had already fulfilled numerous commitments it had
undertaken at the point of its admission into the organisation.
Sources close to the Croatian delegation said that according
to Tarschys, the Council of Europe appreciated Croatia's efforts and
results in the democratisation, respect of human rights and the
displaced persons issue.
Tudjman reiterated Croatia's readiness to fulfil all its
commitments.
Croatia had achieved a stable political and economic system,
which enabled Croatia's constructive role in its part of Europe and
full contribution to the successful completion of the peace process,
Tudjman said.
