ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - A Croatian delegation led by President Franjo Tudjman on Thursday left Zagreb for a two-day summit of the Council of Europe which will take place in Strasbourg on Friday and Saturday. The summit will gather
heads of state and government of the Council of Europe's 40 member states as well as leaders of countries with special guest status.
ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - A Croatian delegation led by President Franjo
Tudjman on Thursday left Zagreb for a two-day summit of the Council
of Europe which will take place in Strasbourg on Friday and
Saturday.
The summit will gather heads of state and government of the
Council of Europe's 40 member states as well as leaders of countries
with special guest status. #L#
Besides President Tudjman, the Croatian delegation consists of
Foreign Minister Mate Granic, Tudjman's Office Chief-of-Staff Hrvoje
Sarinic, Tudjman's Advisor for foreign affairs, Neven Madey and
Tudjman's cabinet's head, Gordan Radin.
During the summit, the Croatian president will hold bilateral
meetings with top officials from several European countries and the
Council of Europe.
Besides the 40 Council of Europe member countries, the summit
will be attended by leader of countries with a special guest status
-- Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Georgia -- and heads
of countries with observer status -- Canada, Japan, the United
States and the Holy See.
Also present will be representatives of the European Union
and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Tudjman was seen off by Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa, House of
Counties speaker, Katica Ivanisevic, Defence Minister Gojko Susak,
Interior Minister Ivan Penic, Croatian Army Chief-of-Staff, Pavao
Miljavac, deputy Foreign Minister Ivo Sanader, French Ambassador to
Croatia Jean-Jacques Gaillarde and the Zagreb airport director,
Tomislav Leko.
