PARIS, Sept 3 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman sent a
letter to UNESCO Director-General Federico Mayor on Wednesday,
supporting his idea to propose adoption of a "declaration on the
human right to peace" at a session of the UNESCO General Assembly
this autumn.
"I share your opinion that the adoption of that declaration
will encourage respect for human rights established in the UN
Charter and the General Declaration on Human Rights.
"For that reason, the representatives of the Republic of
Croatia will support your efforts at the UNESCO General Assembly,"
Tudjman said.
The letter was sent through Croatian Ambassador to UNESCO
Vesna Girardi-Jurkic who relayed it to UNESCO Deputy Director-
General Adnen Badran during their meeting in Paris on Wednesday.
