ZAGREB, Aug 12 (Hina) - The National Bank of Croatia said on
Tuesday its foreign currency reserves totalled US$ 2.327 billion
at the end of June, which was the highest amount this year.
At the end of May the reserves amounted to US$ 2.27
billion.
The central bank said in a statement that higher reserves
had been registered only in August 1996, when they reached 2.333
billion.
At the same time, the operative foreign exchange assets of
Croatian banks increased from 1.93 billion to 2.06 billion
dollars, of which net foreign exchange assets amounted to 1.69
billion dollars while the rest accounted for a short-term debt.
