The brakes in the cars, which all have a 'brake-assist'
system, can react too strongly even to a light touch.
In several cases brakes reacted stronger than drivers
expected, a statement from Daimler-Benz in Stuttgart said. The
cars have been checked and it was established that the problem is
caused by some of the sensors in the brake system.
The manufacturer has already informed the buyers and called
them to visit Daimler-Benz service stations, where the problem-
causing part will be replaced.
The brake-assist system was devised in order to intensify
the braking in cases when driver reacts too slowly.
The system will be put out of function until necessary
replacement is made available.
So far, there have been no complaints by any of the buyers
in Croatia, spokesman for the Mercedes agency in Croatia
"Euroline", Branislava Malvic told Hina.
Drivers are in no danger whatsoever, she said.
Euroeline has so far sold 106 cars which have the brake-
assist system.
"All buyers have been informed about the problem and
invited for a free car repair and replacement of the problem-
causing part," Malvic said.
