ZAGREB, 7 Aug (Hina) - The head of Croatia's permanent mission in the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Ivan Simonovic, on Thursday visited the area of Prevlaka and Cape Ostro (southern Croatia, on the Croatian-Montenegrin
border), the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday.
ZAGREB, 7 Aug (Hina) - The head of Croatia's permanent mission in
the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Ivan Simonovic, on
Thursday visited the area of Prevlaka and Cape Ostro (southern
Croatia, on the Croatian-Montenegrin border), the Foreign
Ministry said in a statement Thursday. #L#
During the visit, Simonovic met with the commander of U.N.
military observers (UNMOP) on Prevlaka, Lieutenant Tangayi, with
whom he discussed current questions in the implementation of the
U.N. mandate on Prevlaka.
The security situation on Prevlaka was described as stable.
The two officials also discussed the preservation of safety
of Dubrovnik hinterland and the Bay of Boka Kotorska
(Montenegro), stressing full respect for Croatia's sovereignty
after the withdrawal of U.N. forces.
This is the first visit of a Croatian Government
representative to the southernmost part of the Republic of
Croatia since 1992, the statement said.
