Federation of Bosnia- Herzegovina, which took place on Monday, a statement from the ICRC office in Zagreb said.
ZAGREB, 6 Aug (Hina) - The International Committee of the Red
Cross (ICRC) had supervised the exchange of prisoners of war and
remains of killed POWs between representatives of Croatia,
Republika Srpska and the Croat side in the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, which took place on Monday, a statement from the
ICRC office in Zagreb said. #L#
The procedure, which took place on a bridge between Stara
Gradiska and Bosanska Gradiska included the exchange of nine POWs
who were released by the Croatian authorities and eight POWs
released by the Republika Srpska authorities.
One prisoner who was held by the Republika Srpska
authorities wanted to be released on the spot, in Banja Luka.
The operation also included the exchange of remains of two
persons, the statement added.
A parallel procedure took place in Mlinista - the Bosnian
Croat authorities handed over the remains of 16 Serb soldiers to
the Republika Srpska authorities.
According to the statement, the ICRC had interviewed all
POWs before their release in order to establish whether they
wanted to be exchanged.
