OSIJEK/LASLOVO, 17 June (Hina) - Nine persons were injured in an
explosion which happened during a funeral in Laslovo, eastern Slavonia
on Tuesday, when a van leaving the cemetery hit an anti-tank mine.
The injured were transported to Osijek Clinic. Two persons were
released from the hospital, while the other seven stayed for further
treatment. Four of them were seriously injured, while the other three
had received light injuries, said Dr Damir Nedaric.
The U.N. Transitional Administration in Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES)
expressed regret over the accident.
Family members of the deceased had been granted access to the
region, UNTAES deputy spokesman Yuriy Chizhick said, warning all
visitors to the U.N.-administered region to be extremely cautious.
